REVIEW: Little Mix - Get Weird

Hello, hi and welcome! So, Little Mix released their brand new album Get Weird. I was particularly looking forward to hearing it as I've really liked all the songs they've released; Black Magic, Love Me Like You, Grown.

So I thought I'd review the deluxe version and give my opinion :-)

Enjoy!

1. Black Magic

Comment: The first single from the album and I think it was their best decision yet. It was three weeks at number one in the UK which is pretty impressive. I loved this song the second I heard it and bought it straight after. It's everything I love about pop, and I think it's just so catchy. One of my favourite songs of theirs.

Favourite Lyric: "Wanna know what it is make the boys want more."

2. Love Me Like You

Comment: I wasn't sure when I first heard this song if I was going to like it because it's quite different to anything of theirs and any other song out at the minute, but that's why I love it(now) because it's quite different but in a good way. Very 60's inspired, I get Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin vibes.

Favourite Lyrics: "Don't need those other lovers when I've got my number one."

3. Weird People

Comment: This song is just cool, that's all I can describe it as really, cool. It's very 80's inspired, it's a song I can imagine Prince would write for a girl band if he ever was to do that.

Favourite Lyrics: "..ain't no uptight sucker gonna tell me how to live my life."

4. Secret Love Song ft Jason Derulo

Comment: First of all, who knew J Derulo and LM were bezzies? Apparently after he saw their twist to Want To Want Me, he wanted to work with them straight away.

Favourite Lyrics: "Why can't you hold me in the street, why can't I kiss you on the dance floor? I wish we could be like that, why can't we be like that? 'Cus I'm yours."

5. Hair

Comment: I really used to hate this song. Although it is very pop-py and bordering on cheesey, I couldn't help but give in and love it. The sassy verses and catchy chorus made me do it.

Favourite Lyrics: "Gonna bleach him out, peroxide on him, hair on the floor, like my memory of him."

6. Grown

Comment: Hands down my favourite song on the entire album, as well as (after Move) my favourite song of theirs ever. Written with Jess Glynne you can clearly hear her influence which shows just how good of a writer she really is. I actually relate to this song too as I've experienced something similar to what they're singing about. I'M GROWN NOW

Favourite Lyrics: "My ride and I assume control, you blew it baby years ago, can't get with me now I'm grown,*BASS DROP*."

7. I Love You

Comment: I'm not a big fan of this song if I'm completely honest, I was waiting for it to go somewhere and it kind of just.. Didn't.

Favourite Lyrics: "I just wanna scream out until my voice breaks, even if the tears fall and my heart hates me."

8. OMG

Comment: I thought my Spotify shuffled onto a Charlie XCX song at first. Its very Charlie XCX/Iggy Azalea - Fancy. It's quite similar to their song Pretty Girls that they gave to Britney Spears. Really catchy with an RnB twist to it which I obviously like.

Favourite Lyrics: "Them boys getting too ambitious, they should win an award. Got twenty more, plenty more fishes, but I still come first."

9. Lightning

Comment: Probably my least favourite song on the album. It's definitely DNA part 2, that's for sure. I personally don't think it goes well with the rest of the album as it's quite 80's and 90's RnB/Pop but then this song is quite dark and random.

Favourite Lyrics: "I wish I didn't love you again.. But I do,*BASS DROP*."

10. A.D.I.D.A.S

Comment: Probably the cheekiest song they've ever written, I was shocked by it that's for sure. The term stands for All Day I Dream About Sex, the girls obviously don't say sex within the song because of young listeners but they certainly reference it throughout. I was the most intrigued about this song but when I listened to the full version I wasn't that impressed, nor was I keen on Leigh-Anne's rapping, I found it cringey and awkward to listen to - as if they'd given up on writing and kind of just told her to say something really fast to fill it up. I may sound harsh but it's my opinion I guess.

Favourite Lyrics: "They say that it's overrated but they ain't doing it right."

11. Love Me Or Leave Me

Comment: With Perrie leading the chorus, it's the perfect slow song. It's really quite a tear jerker if you've ever been madly in love with someone(I haven't).

Favourite Lyrics: "You can take this heart, heal it or break it all apart."

12. The End

Comment: Hang on, let me wipe the tears from my keyboard. The girls have sang this live a few times whilst on their promotion tour. Even shortly after Perrie and Zayn split they performed it(Perrie broke down which basically broke everyone's hearts). An accapella that showcases the strength of each girls voice. I would say that it's in the trilogy of Turn Your Face from DNA and These Four Walls from Salute, it's kind of the big sister to those songs.

Favourite Lyrics: "But love isn't fair, and I swear, that this time.. This is the end."

DELUXE ADDITIONAL SONGS:

13. I Won't

Comment: Also written with Jess Glynne with an obvious Jess Glynne sound. A really happy and upbeat song that makes me want to actually go to the gym and work out for once.(I won't but it makes me feel like that).

Favourite Lyrics: "I won't take anything for granted, no, I know nothing good comes easy, if it did I wouldn't be me."

14. Secret Love Song, Part 2

Comment: The girls show off their perfect harmonies again, this time without J Derulo(I don't know when he adopted that nickname but let's roll with it). A song about a modern day Romeo and Juliet love about not being with the one you love and being mad about it. Cute.

Favourite Lyrics: "Why can't I say that I'm in love? I want to shout it from the rooftops, I wish that it could be like that."

15. Clued Up

Comment: Written with Jessie J and once again you can hear her sound. A song every teenager or 20 something year old will be able to relate to. It reminds me a little of Jessie J - Who You Are, I think the guitar strings are similar. Either way, a nice song. Hats off.

Favourite Lyrics: "Sometimes it's beauty, sometimes it's pain, sometimes it's sunshine and sometimes it's rain."

16. The Beginning

Comment: A short but sweet accapella song about their friendship. A really ironic idea to put a song about it only being the beginning at the end of true album. It reminded me of Spice Girls - Friendship Never Ends, that sort of vibe.

Favourite Lyrics: "A little dream, a lot of love, turn up the heat baby don't give up. Yeah I know we've come so far but it's just, the, beginning."
