Earlier this year the band revealed that they were taking a break. A hiatus, a sabbatical, a pause, a rest, a breather(ran out of other synonyms for break soz).
So I decided to go through all ninety four songs of theres(YES, 94. Including EP's), and try to list my top twenty. This was a hard decision for me so please respect my opinion. Haaa
TWENTY:
I Want.
(Up All Night)
Comment: How couldn't this reach at least top twenty?! Fantastically written by McFly, it kicked off the 'sound' of One Direction really. I also like the fact that Harry tells me I could be on a differentdateeverynight if I wanted to(I accept Hazza).
Fun Fact: My friend went to their UAN tour in Sheffield and rang me when they sang this so I could hear it live. Babe.
Favourite Lyrics: "If you knew what you put me through, but you want, you want , you want me to love you too."
NINETEEN:
Half A Heart
(Midnight Memories)
Comment: This song just makes me want to curl in a ball and cuddle a teddy. With the beginning so similar to More Than This(From Up All Night), it was bound to be one of my favourites. Plus, Zayn slays the chorus and basically the whole song which is probably 90% of why I love the song. I also like to imagine the boys walking with just one shoe on *song reference*
Fun Fact: I used to play this song on repeat when writing an assignment as it used to focus me. I could only work to this song.
Favourite Lyrics: "Only half a blue sky, kinda there but not quite. I'm walking round with just one shoe, I'm half a heart without you."
EIGHTEEN:
Last First Kiss
(Take Me Home)
Comment: The title will never make much sense to me but I'll roll with it. I think I love it so much as it was one of my favourite songs for them to perform on tour. It's just chill with that 1D sound. Plus, if you listen to the This Is Us version Zayn's high note just makes me alive again.
Favourite Lyrics: "Would you wanna stay, if I were to say.. I wanna be last yeah, baby let me be your last first kiss."
SEVENTEEN;
Fool's Gold
(Four)
Comment: Oh this gem. I think this was one of the first songs that I heard where I was like 'so this isn't very One Direction at all' and liked it.
Fun Fact: This was one of the songs I looked forward to hearing when they released the song titles. I don't know why but I couldn't wait to hear it, and it didn't disappoint.
Favourite Lyrics: "I'm like a boat on the water, you're the rays on the waves that calm my mind."
SIXTEEN:
Same Mistakes.
(Up All Night)
Comment: All I can say is; Aw. They all sound so young and foetus-like I want to cuddle them all. Forever. Please.
Favourite Lyrics: "Think that we got more time, when we're falling behind, gotta make up our minds."
FIFTEEN:
Stockholm Syndrome
(Four)
Comment: Some may disagree and think this deserves a higher ranking but it's made it out of 94 so just appreciate that alright? I will forever be mad that this isn't a single, and that's probably why I'm single. *Laughs at own pain*
Fun Fact: I use to put this song on to cook because it used to motivate me so much to actually make food and not a bowl of cereal.

FOURTEEN:

Comment: It's a bloody fun song isn't it? There isn't a reason why it shouldn't be in my favourites really.
Fun Fact: I first heard this lying on my bedroom floor. No more explanation needed.

THIRTEEN:
Never Enough
(Made In The A.M.)
Comment: Although it hasn't been a week since it came out I know all the words and I just love the whole backing music. It's nothing like their stuff before, it's great. C'MON

TWELVE:
Change My Mind
(Take Me Home)
Comment: This song always makes me think of their film when they're going over the audience. I personally don't know why they made a song about staying the night, they know I've already told them they can. Sheesh boys.
Favourite Lyrics: "Never felt like this before, are we friends or are we more?"
ELEVEN:
Over Again
(Take Me Home)
Comment: Another from Take Me Home(my favourite 1D album personally). I just love this song, their voices sound beautiful and Ed Sheeran wrote it so you know, there's that.
Favourite Lyrics: "And I can lend you broken parts that might fit, like this, and I will give you all my heart; so we can start it all over again."
TEN:

Comment: This makes me miss being 18 which makes me sad because I'm 20 and old. Harry's voice throughout melts me and Zayn's just makes me question my existence.
Favourite Lyrics: "I wanna love like you made me feel, when we were 18."
NINE:
I Want To Write You A Song

Comment: I want to thank Harry Styles for writing this and existing. I STILL LOVE THE PEN WRITING ON THE PAPER IN THE BACKGROUND, BACK OFF HATERS

EIGHT:
Wolves

Comment: I feel like this song could be the theme to a film I don't know which but it gives theme tune vibes. I love it because I feel like they've grown up so much the past five years, and this song just shows the evolution they've made. *Cries*
Favourite Lyrics: "In the middle of the night when the wolves come out heading straight for your heart like a bullet in the dark."

Comment: I just flipping love this song, alright? I BELIEVE IN LOVE NOW LOVE ME 1D
Fun Fact: I always used to listen to this on the train when I live in Switzerland. It made me feel thoughtful looking out the window.

SIX:

Comment: Sigh. I just love listening to this in the bath. Tmi? Soz.

FIVE:
They Don't Know About Us

Comment: AKA PURE CLASSIC. If I ever meet anyone who dislikes this song then I'll definitely have to face a judge because there is no excuse to hate this song. It's probably the only nearly RnB type song 1D have ever done and I forgive them because I love it. Also, why did they never sing this live?? Why god why???
Fun Fact: I once recorded myself singing this seriously and sent it to my friend(hi Abi) who told me to then go on X Factor(I never will don't worry).

FOUR:
Change Your Ticket

Comment: Had to choose a song from Four for Four to be ironic didn't I? Any song that involves Harry asking me to get in bed and Zayn telling me to not be innocent is an instant fave in my eyes. I know that there's a lot of talk about this being similar to The 1975 but I love them too so why wouldn't I love this?
Fun Fact: Me & Becky once filmed a hilarious car-aoke to this. GOOD TIMES
Favourite Lyrics: "Come get back in bed we still got time left, this don't have to over."
THREE:
Better Than Words
(Midnight Memories)
Comment: This reminds me of my old car because I'd always blast it really loud on my way to college. Aww. This song is amazing to sing along to in the car whether you're alone or with friends. So do it. It's my top three because I just love, love, love it. Simple. Not enough Zayn but I'm okay. Really.
Fun fact: I always think this song is from Take Me Home, not Midnight Memories and I have no idea why. My brain is weird.
Favourite Lyrics: "I don't know how else to sum it up, 'cus words ain't good enough."
TWO:
Summer Love
(Take Me Home)
Comment: This was my favourite song until Midnight Memories came out and my number one took its place. I guess this is my second favourite because it holds a special place in my heart. The year this came out was an amazing one and this song just makes me think of it for some reason. I can't really explain why I love it so much but I do.
Fun Fact: When they sang this on tour I didn't take any photos or videos I just cried along and watched them.
Favourite Lyrics: "So please don't, make, this, any harder, we can't, take this, any further."
ONE:
Happily
(Midnight Memories)
Comment: Anyone who knows me well enough knows that this is my favourite ever song of there's. I always sing along and just bop my head. It makes me feel so happy and just, content. I could probably go on forever about my love for this song. I WILL HAPPILY BE WITH Y'ALL
Fun Fact: This is the only song from the Midnight Memories album that I have on my phone, iPad and iPod. Otherwise, I just have the physical Midnight Memories cd and on my phone.
Favourite Lyrics: "I don't care what people say when we're together, you know I wanna be the one to hold you when you sleep."
